This Week at Envato – AppStorm T-shirts Spied at Macworld

Posted: 28 Jan 2011 04:05 PM PST

It’s been a huge week at Envato. 2011 is well under way, and the year looks more exciting each week. It’s Saturday morning here. I’m sitting in McDonalds with a tall cappuccino using my own wireless because the free wifi here seems to get slower and slower. Once I’ve finished typing, my weekend starts!

Here are the highlights from Envato Notes this week:

Trivia of the Week

This week a GraphicRiver author shared this bit of trivia with LoungeKat:

The average lead pencil will draw a line 35 miles long or write approximately 50,000 English words.

That puts my printer cartridges to shame!

Well, that’s it for this week. Have a great weekend!

Freebie Friday: Abduzeedo’s Tuesday Total Textures

Posted: 28 Jan 2011 04:29 AM PST

One of my favorite blogs is Abduzeedo. It inspires me. If you haven’t heard of it, here is something from the site’s About page:

Abduzeedo is a blog about design. There are all sorts of articles for those who want to look for inspiration. Also you will find very useful tutorials for the most used applications out there, with a special selection of Photoshop Tutorials and Illustrator Tutorials. Of course there are other softwares contemplated like Pixelmator, Fireworks, and web design tutorials.

One of my favorite features is Tuesday Total Textures – an endless supply of excellent free textures that continue to flow from the site week by week. Check out all 55 collections (so far) by searching the site for the tag “ttt”.

Are you a fan of Abduzeedo? Did you find a texture you love? Do you know any other good sources of free textures? Let us know in the comments.

AudioJungle’s Gareth Coker Featured on the UK Trailer for “The King’s Speech”

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 07:10 PM PST

How talented are our AudioJungle composers and music producers? Incredibly talented!

AudioJungle author Gareth Coker wrote the opening cue for the trailer embedded above. Gareth’s piece is followed by some Classical music (feel free to name the composer and title in the comments), then the long cue at the end is Philip Glass. Gareth reports, “I feel humbled to have been placed alongside them…” Congratulations, Gareth!

And there is a lot more where that came from. Check out these tracks from his AudioJungle profile:

Sweeping Romantic Orchestral Theme

Ripped Tension

They’re just a few of the amazing tracks you can find on AudioJungle. Check out our most popular files here.
