ThemeForest author Kriesi breaks 20K sales

Posted: 09 Feb 2011 04:24 PM PST

Earlier today ThemeForest author Kriesi broke the 20,000 sales barrier. Congratulations Christian, that’s just brilliant!

Christian’s follower count currently stands at 2,998. Why don’t two or more of you follow him, so he breaks the 3K follower barrier on the same day.

Why You Should Become an Envato Author

Posted: 09 Feb 2011 12:53 AM PST

I visited my first Envato Marketplaces website a few years ago. We were working on a new website and I thought that it would help to search for inspiration. I discovered the website ThemeForest that day, a brilliant website with many premium templates. The Envato marketplaces have become much bigger in the past few years. Envato will launch their new website PhotoDune soon and we can surely expect more marketplaces in the near future.

But why are the marketplaces so awesome? Why should you definitely be part of it? There are many reasons, and I’d like to tell you some.

Firstly, the great community. You can always ask other members for an answer when you have a question. The whole community wants to help you and they will do everything to give the best answer. You can always ask for a second opinion when your item has been rejected and other members will try to explain what you should do to get your file accepted. I think that this support can help you to grow in experience and professionalism. You can learn and it’s great to get feedback from other authors. Some of these authors are really awesome, and know where they are talking about.

The second reason is the simplicity of the marketplaces. Of course, your file won’t be accepted if it is really bad, but it’s really simple to join the club when you got enough experience and a great file. You can earn lots of money and get great response from your buyers. Some people are part time Envato authors, others are full time. That means that the marketplaces aren’t just places to sell things, but a real business. And who doesn’t want to be part of that?

And the third reason: the great staff. They will try to help you 24/7 with your problems or questions. They will do everything to make the marketplaces even better. For example the support team: some really awesome guys who try to help you with any question. Questions about rejected files, copyright violations… just everything!

We joined the club almost a year ago and I think it was a really good decision. There are many marketplaces with the same possibilities as the Envato Marketplaces, but none of them are so awesome and friendly.

So, join the club!

Introducing WP-Select

Posted: 08 Feb 2011 07:46 PM PST

From time to time, we test out new features for the marketplaces before officially making them available to the public. To combine this line of thinking with a helpful service, we’re launching WP-Select: hand-picked, top-quality WordPress themes from ThemeForest.

WP-Select

To start, we’ve launched with a base of fifty high quality themes, and will continue to add a few more each fortnight. When selecting which items to include, we considered a handful of parameters:

  • Number of sales
  • Documentation quality
  • Star rating
  • Features and administration options

Kick-Ass Filtering

WP-Select Filtering Options

This year, we plan to overhaul the search functionality on our marketplaces. To experiment a bit, we’ve added a plethora of filtering options within the sidebar of the home page.

With these options, buyers will have the ability to filter the available selections according to their specific requirements: color scheme, layout, pricing, theme type, features, WordPress version, etc. This level of power and customization will turn an exhaustive list of 300 potential themes into a dozen!

So, when you have some free time available, take a look around, play with the filtering functionality, and let us know your thoughts!

If you love it, be loud, and we’ll do our best to implement this form of filtering into the marketplaces this year. Alternatively, if you have a better idea or method, that works too! Leave a comment below.
