Do you identify with the word “geek”? Do you resemble any of the characters in that classic movie, “Revenge of the Nerds”? Has anyone ever labeled you as “socially awkward”?
Hopefully not! But since many of us work from home, it may be that our social skills aren’t getting the practice that they need. Given that social media is a major marketing strategy for most of us, I thought you might appreciate some pointers!
FreelanceSwitch have done just that. In an article called Are You a Natural at Social Media Marketing? author Melanie Brooks summarizes some lessons from a person who definitely does have social skills – Dave Kerpen, head of Likeable Media.
Dave identifies the sort of person who is great at social media:
Ouch! If that doesn’t sound like you, fret not! Dave has a bunch of tips for you. Take the time to learn from an expert. It may result in lots of extra sales!
Firstly, watch this video Dave did for Inc.com. It’s called “Tips on Social Media in 2012″.

Envato.com is the ideal place to discover everything and everyone in Envato. It is a complete directory of of Envato’s sites and team members. The site also has a useful press kit, with a PDF information pack, press releases, and contact button.
If you love exploring Envato.com, give it a shout-out in the comments!
The site starts with Envato’s mission, which I really love. It’s great to work for a company that’s committed to help people.
Next comes a summary list of all our sites, including the Envato Marketplaces, the Tuts+ Network, FreelanceSwitch, AppStorm, Creattica, and Rockable Press, along with brief summaries of each site or site category. We’ll meet each of these in future posts.
Then comes my favorite section – the team. Working remotely in a large team of talented people who are scattered around the world is a lot of fun, but it’s easy to become disoriented. New people regularly join the team, positions change, and some people have names that are really hard to spell. I find myself visiting here regularly to check my facts.
After that comes our press section, which has a list of publications we’ve been featured in, useful information for journalists who want to write about us, and a contact form.
If you’d like to keep up to date with what’s happening in the Envato world, you’ll find Envato on most social networks.
There’s always a lot going on, so follow us in multiple places so you don’t miss out!
So how do you make use of Envato.com? Let us know in the comments.
