Author Interview: INDUSTRYKIDZ

Posted: 16 Jan 2012 10:00 PM PST

Following his heart, running with the ideas in his head, working 15 hours a day, and playing Battlefield 3. This week we meet HP Eskobar (INDUSTRYKIDZ) from GraphicRiver.

If you're an Envato marketplace author and would like to be interviewed for the blog, head over to this form. We'd love to hear from you.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do for a living?

I’m from Chicago Il. I’m a 25 year old graphic designer. I’ve been doing graphic design since I was 17 years old. I mostly work around 15 hours a day doing projects, and GraphicRiver styles on my free time.

Which marketplaces do you belong to? What types of files do you sell

GraphicRiver. I sell Photoshop layer styles asl.

How did you get started? Have you had any formal training?

I started pretty little, playing with Photoshop making my Game Clan Signatures, and started getting pretty good at it. After high school I went to school to learn CSI and computer networking, but I followed my heart and stuck with designing.

For a few years now I have been experimenting with movie CGI, 3D animation, Flash, HTML, XML, CSS, Java and PHP. From the looks of it, I think I am doing pretty well.

Describe your home workspace.

It’s pretty messy most of time. Lots of cans of diet coke lol.

Describe your creative process. What steps do you normally follow to create your files?

I just run with whatever comes into my head.

What is your advice to other authors regarding how to create a successful portfolio?

Practice makes perfect, and never give up.

What do you do to market your files?

DeviantART is the only place I post my files so far, so I really don’t market them lol.

What are your three favorite files, and why do you like them?

Thriller Photoshop Layer Styles

Thriller v2 Photoshop Layer Styles

Showtime Styles V2

I like them because they’re the newest ideas I have done, and it looks like I’m getting better at them every time.

Apart from yourself, who is your favorite marketplace author, and why do you like them?

Honestly, everybody here is pretty awesome. But I’ll have to say EAMejia. His portfolio is super clean and awesome.

What do you do in your spare time?

Battlefield 3………………………………

Featured Workspace: Kontramax

Posted: 16 Jan 2012 06:00 PM PST

This has to be the closest you can get to working in a mancave. It’s the workspace of ActiveDen/AudioJungle/GraphicRiver/3DOcean author Kontramax. The soundproofing material he has used has turned his wall into a cave wall.

This room contains something to inspire just about every type of artist. He has musical instruments, a great keyboard, a small mixer, nice monitor speakers and a bass amp. There are several computers with more than enough monitors, and a fantastic graphics tablet. There are knick-knacks galore, and even a small telescope. And the vibe of the room is fantastic. I wonder if he ever leaves?

Here’s a wider shot. That wall looks great, the light shades match, and it looks like there is plenty of cool stuff under the desk, too.

A serious and versatile bass player!

And even the views out of his window are inspiring. Out of one window there is a river, fountain and rainbow, and out of the other a nice sunrise (or sunset).

What do you think of Kontramax's workspace? Let us know in the comments.

Would you like your workspace featured on Envato Notes? Upload your photo to somewhere on the Web and let us know about it on our Write a Post page. Or upload it to Flickr and tag it with #envatonotesworkspaces. Either way, add an interesting description. Each week we'll choose and publish a new photo.
